Processor – PIU, RCD, OP

Following the introduction of Universal Controller parts for the Basic Controller, Honeywell introduced this limited version of the original Honeywell microprocessor card (30731832-003).

Our CPU cards go through a special-built, rigorous off-line test to verify that all circuitry on the board is functioning as intended. This is followed by a 48-hour system test in our Hiway test bed, verifying its ability to correctly perform all required operations. Not even the original manufacturer tests this thoroughly.

Processor 30731832-003 contains the microprocessor that does the processing for several hiway devices. A single red LED on the card edge indicates that the processor is running.

This processor will not work in the Basic Controller, but was intended for service in the following boxes:RCD, HLPIU, LLPIU, LEPIU, Operator Station.

No longer available from Honeywell (replaced by the Universal Processor), this card is in stock and available from Western Process Computers.

This card carries the CP1600 microprocessor chip plus its interfacing and support circuits. The support circuits include:

  • The oscillator-A crystal oscillator with timing-phase-generating circuits and interfacing devices to drive the processor and the file backplane.
  • Sample time clock-..:-A precision timing circuit generated by the main oscillator to provide timing pulses every 1/3 second. These STC pulses are used to initiate the processor into its tasks every 1/3 second.
  • Watchdog timer-A circuit that is triggered by the sample time clock and can be cleared by a command from the processor. It is used to detect problems encountered by the processor in completing its job. If the watchdog timer has not been reset before the current STC pulse, a problem is assumed with the processor or one of its instructions in ROM and the processor is halted.
  • The original, unconstrained version of this processor, the 30731832-001, is still available from WPC, and can be used in the Basic Controller in addition to the boxes listed above.
