New technology components reduce component quantity and size and also increase component reliability. By using fewer, more reliable components and increasing the internal diagnostics, system reliability and robustness is improved.

One new PWA replaces four old technology PWAs therefore fewer spares are required.

URCD components are backward compatible with previous releases of the RCD and RCDII.

• The URCD replaces the existing CPU and ROM/RAM card in both RCD and RCDII.

• The single new PWA replaces the RCD or RCDII PWAs by selecting the appropriate jumper settings.

The Upgrade Kit is used to replace the existing CPU and memory PWAs in either the Basic or Extended Reserve Controller Director Files.

The Upgrade Set is a complete replacement, the regulator and Data Hiway communications in addition to the CPU and memory.
