New technology components reduce component quantity and size and also increase component reliability . By using fewer, more reliable components and increasing the internal diagnostics, system reliability and robustness are improved.

One new PWA replaces four old technology PWAs therefore fewer spares are required .

URCD components are backward compatible with previous releases of the RCD and RCDII .

• The URCD replaces the existing CPU and ROM/RAM card in both RCD and RCDII.

• The single new PWA replaces the RCD or RCDII PWAs by selecting the appropriate jumper settings.
